Hibiscus tea has a natural fruity tartness and brews to a deep scarlet infusion. In randomized clinical trials, daily consumption of hibiscus significantly lowered systolic and diastolic blood pressure in adults with pre to moderate essential hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, hibiscus tea was found to be as effective at lowering blood pressure as the commonly used medication Captopril. It also contains high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants.
